The Punjab Government has announced the Roshan Gharana Scheme, under which electricity consumers in Punjab province can purchase solar panels from the Punjab Government at a reasonable price. A decade ago, Pakistan faced a severe power crisis, which the government overcame. However, the government is still paying a heavy price in the form of IPPs.

These IPPs are oil-fired power plants that generate and sell expensive electricity to the government. The burden of expensive electricity purchased from these private power plants is ultimately borne by the poor. To reduce this burden, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has decided to take a revolutionary step.

Under the Punjab Solar Scheme of the Punjab Government, Punjab province electricity consumers who consume up to 200 Units of electricity per month will be provided absolutely free solar panels. This is about the relief that the Punjab government is planning to give to electricity consumers who are living below the poverty level.

Apart from this, the Punjab government has also planned to provide relief to working professionals who belong to middle-class families, under which such electricity consumers who consume electricity from 200 to 500 Units per month will get solar panels at easy instalments.

According to the Punjab government’s information, middle-class electricity consumers who consume 200 to 500 units of electricity per month can get solar panels from the Punjab government in easy instalments ranging from Rs.3700 to Rs.6200.

According to the details released by the Punjab Government, the government will provide a loan of up to 2.25 Lakh rupees under the Roshan Gharana Scheme to electricity consumers who use between 201 and 300 Units per month. The monthly instalment of this loan will be Rs.3700.

Electricity consumers who consume between 301 and 400 Units of electricity per month will be given a loan of Rs.3 Lakh under the Roshan Gharana scheme, whose monthly instalment is fixed at Rs.6200. The Punjab government will provide such consumers whose monthly electricity consumption is from 401 to 500 Units with a loan of Rs.3.75 Lakh against a 25% down payment.

Eligibility Criteria For Punjab Solar Scheme

Before applying for a solar system provided by the Punjab government, it is important to find out whether we are eligible for this scheme. So, the electricity consumers who want to benefit from the scheme must have the following qualifications:

  • Applicant must have a Pakistan National Identity Card.
  • Applicant must be a Citizen of Pakistan.
  • The applicant must register in the name of both the electricity connection on which the application is submitted and the property on which the electricity connection is installed.

Application Process For Punjab Roshan Gharana Scheme

If you are eligible to get Solar Plates under the Roshan Gharana Scheme offered by the Punjab Government, follow the below-mentioned steps to avail yourself of this scheme.

STEP 1

First, get the hard copies of the documents mentioned below.

  • Copy of the Applicant’s National Identity Card.
  • Two Passport-size Photographs of the applicant.
  • Copy of the Electricity Bill of the applicant.
  • Applicant must have a Copy of Documents of his/her Property where the solar system will be installed.

STEP 2

Visit your nearest Bank of Punjab branch with the above-mentioned documents and get the Punjab Roshan Gharana Scheme application form from the concerned officer.

STEP 3

After receiving the application form, please read it carefully and enter the information you asked for. When you have completed the form, attach all the documents you brought along with it and submit your application to the Bank of Punjab.
