The Government Plans To Impose An Additional Rs 96700 Crore On Electricity Consumers
ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has planned to impose another additional burden on electricity consumers in this era of inflation. According to various sources, instead of providing relief in electricity bills, the government has started preparing to impose an additional burden of Rs 96,700 Crore on the people stuck in inflation.
Six prominent electricity distribution companies in Pakistan have demanded the government increase the cost of electricity due to various expenses. In this regard, applications have also been submitted to NEPRA on behalf of these companies. The hearing on these applications filed by the electricity distribution companies will be held on April 2.
It is also important to remember that earlier on March 19, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) also submitted a request to NEPRA regarding the increase in electricity prices. The Central Power Purchasing Agency has demanded an increase of Rs 4.99 paisa per unit in its petition. NEPRA has fixed the petition filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency for hearing on March 28.
