The Punjab Government Announced Establishing A Task Force To Prevent Power Theft Across The Province

LAHORE: The Punjab Government has decided to form a task force to deal with electricity theft. Yesterday, a meeting of the provincial cabinet of the Punjab Government was held, chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. Senior provincial minister Maryam Aurangzeb and other vital ministers attended the meeting.

In this crucial meeting of the provincial cabinet, the problem of electricity theft incidents across the province was also considered, and various issues were reviewed.

In this meeting presided over by the Chief Minister, the officials of all the electricity distribution companies established across the province participated and submitted a detailed report regarding the electricity theft to the Chief Minister of Punjab. In light of the report presented by the authorities, Chief Minister Punjab decided to establish a special task force to eliminate electricity theft.

It was decided to include the representatives of the Police, Intelligence Agency, Magistrate, DC Office, and Law Department in this task force formed by the Punjab Government.

According to the announcement issued by the Punjab Government, more than 600 special police forces will also participate in this anti-electricity theft campaign. Apart from this, the Punjab Cabinet has also decided in principle to amend the laws to prevent and recover this severe crime of electricity theft.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz also issued instructions for solid and effective prosecution in cases of electricity theft while stressing the end of electricity theft.
